Indian Head Massage Therapy

Investing in Indian Head Massage Therapy is a great way of ensuring you have a facilitator and supporter of your own healing journey. If you’re wondering what the benefits of Indian Head Massage are, there are a couple listed below, although of course everyBODY is different and these are a handful of possible outcomes:
  • Increase in blood flow to the head, neck and shoulders – nourishing tissues and promoting healing, improving circulation, dilating blood vessels, temporarily decreasing blood pressure
  • Increased lymphatic flow to the head, neck and shoulders – aiding the elimination of accumulated toxins, reduction in swelling, stimulating immune system
  • Relaxes muscle and nerve fibres of the head, neck and shoulders – relieves muscular tension, soreness and fatigue, increases flexibility, improves muscle tone, balance and posture, can help relieve tension headaches and aches and pains
  • Stimulates the release of endorphins from the brain – helps relieve pain, helps relieve emotional stress and repressed feelings, elevates mood, helps relieve anxiety and depression

What to expect:

The treatment itself covers shoulders and a little bit of the back, the neck, head and face. On your arrival we’ll have a bit of settling in and uncovering where-you-and-your-body-are-at-right-now time. There will be some lovely smells wafting around along with some ambient music to help guide you back to experiencing your full senses. There will be a soft, rosy glow cast by my Himalayan salt lamp to support your body in switching into relaxation mode.

To start the treatment off, if that feels good for you, I’ll help you tune in to your body and tap into your relaxation response by playing the singing bowl.

During your treatment I will support you in grounding into your body with some  mindful breathing. Whilst there is a collection of techniques and a flow for the treatment that I follow, each body holds tension in different places and each person finds relief in different spaces so I intuitively tap into what you most need and tailor your treatment accordingly. There is a wonderful combination of relaxing and firm strokes to provide release across your shoulders, back, neck, head and face.

If you have chosen to add on a hair oiling treatment to your massage, I will choose an oil according to your needs. Either way, you’ll get time to sit and allow the treatment to settle afterwards and, if you choose, share your discoveries and receive a few tips for home self care.

"I share Indian Head Massage therapy as a springboard to get people thinking more about their overall wellbeing and taking the first step to feeling at their best by carving out 30 minutes for a treatment – and the impact this can have is so much bigger than that seemingly insignificant time investment. I am really passionate about supporting others in discovering new practices and revealing inner knowledge through Indian Head Massage and a firm believer in this: "The treatments themselves do not 'cure' the condition, they simply restore the body's self-healing ability." -Leon Chaitow, N.D., D.O."
